Danny DeVito directs Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore in this devilish black comedy reminiscent of DeVito's THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN and THE WAR OF THE ROSES. Alex Rose (Stiller) and Nancy Kendricks (Barrymore) are a young, professional, New York couple in search of their dream home. When they finally find the perfect Brooklyn .. Read more

It's hard to believe that a comedy from a former writer of The Simpsons (screenwriter Larry Doyle) and director Danny DeVito could be such a dreary laughter-free zone. This ham-fisted slapstick farce is as much a test of patience for the viewer as elderly Irish neighbour Eileen Essell is for Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore — the couple find that Essell's overbearing upstairs tenant comes with their new Brooklyn residence. Soon the dotty pensioner is driving them crazy with her blaring TV, time-consuming requests and annoying habits. This nightmarish assault on their tolerance and good humour — and the fact the old lady lives in rent-controlled security — eventually pushes Stiller and Barrymore into hiring hitman James Remar to solve their problem. Unfortunately, even Stiller's genius comic timing can't compensate for the cartoon tastelessness or clumsy dark tone of this wildly uneven real-estate horror story.
I watched this movie under the original title of 'Duplex' and found it to be an enjoyable comedy, nothing side-splitting but enjoyable all the same....
The relevance of the above should fall into place when you witness what is possibly the most hilarious scene ever in a movie - and who better to star in it than Ben Stiller (who is fast becoming one of my favourite actors).
This movie was clearly titled "Duplex" in the States and they clearly felt we Brits wouldn't understand the title so changed it (Anyone understand the title "Gothika"?)
"Our House" as a title is a tad uninspiring but I watched it anyway and I'm glad I did - a stunning property which anyone with any sense would kill for - watch the film, you'll know what I mean.
This is one frustrating movie that didn't raise a titter from me once. Why laugh at other people misfortune when the situation is not funny!
Should have been better given the cast but very average indeed.
Predictable, unbelievable, pathetic.
The characters are one dimensional, the storyline is non-exsistent, the conclusion disappointing.
Don`t waste your time. As much fun as an enema(possibly).
Highly entertaining movie which I have come to expect from Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller. They did not dissapoint. The old lady upstairs is also hilarious. Highly reccomend.

Barrymore and Stiller star in a well above average romantic comedy directed by Danny DeVito. Its a bit of a one gag movie but the black comedy elements are well constructed and there is a great sting in the tale which I didnt expect. It's worth renting and passes 2hours quite nicely.
Danny Devito, what happened after Matilda?
Ben Stiller and Drew Barrimore both act their socks off, desperately trying to breathe life into this dated, unfunny film - but the question has to be, why bother at all?
If you like 'Home Alone' or 'Throw Momma from the Train', fair enough this may appeal - if you like comedy that makes you laugh out loud (or even smile once or twice) it might be time to dig out 'There's Something About Mary' again...
This is the funniest film I have seen in a long while. Would definately watch again.
Dire second rate mortgage payer for Barrymore and Stiller. Warmed up comedy and Rom-Com cliche upon cliche. Don't bother, I wish I hadn't!
I watched this, and apart from the occasional funny line it was one of the most boring films I have seen. The storyline was rubbish, the acting 'wooden' and the ending confusing. (was there an ending?) not recommended at all, but of course this is just my opinion.
I thought Ben Stiller didn't make poor films until this one! What was he thinking? While the plot started off ok it should have been much darker, and not so predictable. The only high point was the ending, and that didn't come soon enough!!
