In this typical Shirley Temple vehicle, the star runs away to the circus while conspiring to reunite her estranged parents (Joel McCrea and Rosemary Ames) by driving the wolf (Lyle Talbot) from the door. Made at the peak of Temple's popularity, between The Little Colonel and Curly Top, this was her weakest film of the period, an under-developed, slow-moving and predictable tale. The star is as charming as ever, particularly in her scenes with Poodles Hanneford as a clown, but only her keenest admirers should sample.
One of the child star's thinner and more sentimental vehicles.
Great family film for reliving memories of classic cinema. This film reaches every age group and portrays the innocence qualities of childhood. Children who have not grown up in this era would equally enjoy the content of the film as thoughs who remembered shirley temple being discovered as a child star. i would recommend this as an alternative viewing to encourage a broader aspect of what family films used to be like.
A charming tale of family life, loves and tensions. While a bit dated, it still appeals. I do wish they had not tried to add colour, though - it spoilt it a bit for me.
