Out Of The Blue is timeless proof why Dennis Hopper will be sorely missed by many. Set in Vancouver the film follows the seemingly standard rebellions of fifteen-year-old Ceebee, who mourns after the death of her childhood hero, Elvis Presley. Infatuated by punk music and the punk lifestyle, she finds enough in the city to keep her busy whilst escaping her heroin-addicted, cheating mother, and waiting for her father to be released from prison after a tragic, drunken accident five years earlier involving a big rig and a school bus full of children. When Ceebee's father Don is released and attempts to pick up the facade of a happy family despite his lack of remorse for his past errors, Ceebee's true feelings reveal themselves in more ways that you could ever expect. This is a truly fantastic (albeit heartbreaking) film and highly recommended.
