Unforgettable, undeniable brilliance!
By a customer from Reading, England , 17 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
In the days before Cuba Gooding Jnr went bad, and when Marcel the Monkey was the first member of the Friends cast to land a job in Hollywood, they stared alongside some of Tinsel Town's biggest stars in this exciting, unforgettable action drama which will have you mapping out your route to the nearest hospital for weeks. Dustin Hoffman, Rene Russo, Kevin Spacey, Donald Sutherland and the ever magnificant Morgan Freeman, turn in top notch performances as government and military officials struggling with physical and moral dilemas, as a shockin and fatal never-before-seen disease spreads across America, killing anyone who gets in it's way. As the time runs out for our heroes, they'll need to do some quick thinking and some fast work to save the day, or will the population of America be wiped out for good?
Some funny one liners and comical moments, help to ease the tension of an otherwise 'sweaty-palm, gripping-the-edge-of-your-seat, yelling-at-your-tv-screen' masterpiece. Deinfitely one to watch, if you like the whole end of the world drama thing.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great Film - even after 17yrs since it was made!
By GemsyWemsy81 (9 reviews) from Bury St. Edmunds , 04 May 2012I picked this film because of the plot, sounded good, and it was! A great film and I was gripped all the way through. i wasnt sure what to expect since it was a 1995 film with all the effects but I really really enjoyed it and it felt like you were watching a recent film. Well recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Poignant - more relevant NOW than at its release.
By newphase (15 reviews) from Gloucester , 19 Feb 2012A real gem - RELEVANT for today* and the kind of thing that hollywood 'should' do more but is too greedy and scared to do.
THis is probably, imho of course, Hoffmans greatest serious role.
*reason it is relevant is because it shows the PATRIOT ACT in FULL-SWING in a real-life situation. And yet, the patriot act 'training' exercises are SCARILY like this but without real-world threat... that is to say, US troops invading (for want of a better term) their own towns; treating their OWN citizens like dogs and, basically, taking the place of an elected Govt. and raping any and all civil-liberties. <-- YES that is an interpretation, but, that is what good movies are all about... no?
This film - NOW MORE THAN EVER - is WORTH WATCHING- Was this review helpful to you?
