Gritty? No.

I tried to persevere with this, but I couldn't get past the third episode. I didn't really feel empathetic towards any of the characters, and though the acting was fine, I feel it fell kind of flat. The only character I like was the black narrator guy in the wheelchair, and that's just me liking the actor.

It was described as gritty... it wasn't. Every time anything 'gritty' was about to take the place camera turned away. I've seen shows that aren't described as gritty with more grit...

Have Bad Girls on my list to watch next. I seem to recall I enjoyed that a bit more back when it was on TV.

So overall, not my thing, it wasn't even depressing, it was just dull.
