The hipocracy of celebrity
By Dungbeetle (503 reviews) from London , 23 Oct 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
Indian film with subtitles. Just saw this at the London Film Festival and enjoyed it. Irrfan Khan plays the role with determination and charisma as expected of a man who went from international steeplechase champion in the 1950s to lead a rebel gang who kidnapped people as a protest against the corruption rife in authority.through to the 1970s. The film is comic especially in the interplay between Paan Singh and his wife, and his reaction to teasing by his superiors. It is also matter of fact about the brutality and complexity of the caste and tribal systems. it makes the point about the men who were idolised then disgarded. Paan Singh is frustrated that his medals give him no meaning compared to the publicity about his rebelious activities. Fortunately for non Indians the singing and dancing is minimal.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Excellent Movie
By Kaeley (12 reviews) , 27 Sep 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Excellent Movie. Irfan Khan was superb as ever so was the other supporting cast. Topic was extremely sensitive the forgotten sports persons in India. Its the old Indian ritual to worship the rising sun and forget the past or they never wanted to learn. Old topic well portrayed.- Was this review helpful to you?

Brilliant movie
By a customer , 24 Aug 2012Highly recommended. Brilliant film. A True story. Irfan Khan in this film plays probably one of his finest role as Paan Singh. Not a typically masala movie.- Was this review helpful to you?
