    [Highly rated reviewer]

PAN SONIC are purveyors of the most extreme and darkest sound design this side of Helsinki. This dvd is taken from live performances of the band and then processed by a form of cathode ray tube manipulation into slowly evolving moods and textures. The imagery fits the music perfectly, leaving haunting and epileptic flashes on the viewers' retina. The music veers from pure noise, more extreme than any doom metaller could muster, to pounding techno not suitable for any dance floor. I love stuff like this, if only for the fact that hardly anybody else is doing it. Some of it is reminiscent of Throbbing Gristle in both look and sound and I would recommend this to fans of that group. A really well made release, looks and sounds beautiful, that will challenge you and draw you into its' monochrome world in equal measures. Recommended.
