Unusual but overrated comedy, imperfectly adapted from a very funny book, with careful but disappointing period sense and photography. A lot more style and gloss was required.

One of my favourite films of all time.Tatum O'neal as orphan Addie is magnificent and steals the show.I think she was only around 8 or 9 years old when she made this and she won an oscar for her role.Some great scenes and a lovely story.
