This is nothing to do with the more recent Aussie film of the same name, though its story line follows vaguely similar fantasy-life lines. Keir Dullea, alias astronaut David Bowman in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: a Space Odyssey, comes down to earth to play a small-town hockey hero and ladies' man who leads a double life as the town's gunfighter. In his daydreams, anyway. Nicely acted by a cast which also includes Elizabeth Ashley, the film holds interest but never quite scales the same heights of escapist excellence as The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Amiable, though predictable, romantic comedy, with a few sideswipes at macho attitudes on the way.

    Sizzling charmer

It's hard to work out exactly what's so perfect about this film (unless of course you just accept that Hugh Jackman is too gorgeous for words). It's not particularly unusual or unpredictable but everyone plays their part beautifully, there are comic touches and good characters. For those who like their romance not too sugary sweet but perfect in the end this is a delight.

    G'day all writers

Its a chick flick but is funny enough in places for the more macho type to enjoy. Overall its a good film
