NOT FOR THOSE SUFFERING FROM DEPRESSION
By Burnhamite (379 reviews) from BURNHAM , 22 Oct 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
The BBC are always head and shoulders above others when it comes to classic tales of yesteryear in England. Rebecca Hall, Miranda Richardson and Benedict Cumberbatch maintain this reputation in a production which is certainly not for those suffereing from depression as this is a long procession of family fueding, class distinction and the horrors of war.- Was this review helpful to you?

Give it a go
By a customer , 28 Apr 2013Really enjoyed this mini-series once it got going. The first couple of episodes were touch and go as to whether perserverance was worthwhile - the main characters were difficult to warm to - but it is actually true to the book. Excellent production and good acting made it enjoyable and something I looked forward to seeing. I've now bought the novel.- Was this review helpful to you?

Builds up to a decent story
By a customer , 10 Apr 2013This is one of those series that the viewer is likely to ignore after the first episode. Parade's End starts very slowly and appears to be going nowhere ... so be advised that the storyline builds up decently as the series progresses. It has to be said the acting talents of both Benedict Camberbatch and Rebecca Hall stand out enormously and help carry the series through to it's conclusion. Another actor worthy of note is Adelaide Clemens the suffering suffragette who yearns for Camberbatch's attentions. There is a bit of everything in this 5 part drama. Devotion to duty and partner, deceit, loyalty, faithfulness, unfaithfulness, lies, truth and gossip. You name it and it is in Parade's End somewhere. I can easily find myself recommending this series, but as I have said previously, the viewer must stay with to wait for the story to unfold.- Was this review helpful to you?

Triumph through adversity
By PhilR (7 reviews) , 08 Apr 2013Cumberbatch is outstanding and the whole journey mesmerising. Thought provoking, hard work at times, indeed all the things that make some dramas great. You guessed it I loved it.- Was this review helpful to you?
