Watching this movie in 2007, i realize how many movies could have been inspired by this flick? The most obvious one was 'Ghulam'.
Protagonist implicated in heroine's brother's murder. Brother part of the gang and protagonist's struggle against it.
Nana Patekar is simply superb. THis will remain one of his top notch performances.
Anil is OTT at some places. But Jackie Shroff is cool and Madhuri is graceful.
This again shows that film is a director's medium.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Nothing Outstanding
By Karim from Chester, England , 07 May 2007This is just your run-of-the-mill gangster film. Except at the end where the newly weds are violently gunned down on their wedding night. There is a 'sexual' scene just before which you don't see very often and for 1989 is I think quite daring.- Was this review helpful to you?

gritty gangster flick
By Joe Chacko from Winchester, England , 07 Jul 2004As orphan children, Karan and Kishen came to the city and made two firm friends in Paro and her brother Prakash. The full-grown Karan (Anil Kapoor) returns from America to find that his brother, Kishen (Jackie Shroff) has become a member of a criminal gang, Prakash has become the inspector of police and Paro (Madhuri Dixit) is still waiting for him. He is torn between his brother and his sweetheart when some of Kishen's associates kill Prakash. He eventually joins the gang under Anna Seth (Nana Patekar) in order to take revenge on those who killed his friend.
This is worth watching for Nana Patekar's acting, which completely steals the show.- Was this review helpful to you?
