    [Highly rated reviewer]

I only watched this for half an hour, then turned it off as it was so boring. Short films are rarely engaging, and simply sticking dozens back to back does nothing to make it any more engaging. Some people may love this sort of thing, but really it is very dull.

Loved this film. I really enjoy films that make you think, feel or get lost in the characters lives, if only for a short moment. I can see why this may have been boring for some but I thought it was lovely to watch. I love Paris and thought the the city looked beautiful in these short films. The characters were interesting; some were funny, some were sad, all were interesting in their own way.

Seriously disappointing. Whomever was responsible for the idea was either incapable of imposing discipline / quality, or too pleased with themselves to realise the high level of dross incorporated. A couple of sparkling gems are the only redeeming features, esp. the Buscemi / Depardieu / Sewell episodes.

This is an entertaining and delightful bundle of fun, feelings and tragedies. It seems a crime that the first reviewer has discouraged so many people from seeing this brilliant creation. Did all Morcambe and Wise's sketches have to be film length? Brevity has a wit and poignancy that dragging things out can destroy and this film of 18 encounters on the theme of Paris - often through the eyes of English speakers - proves the point.

Here's what I loved. Steve Buscemi, a lonely tourist in the magnificent Tuilleries metro station enduring hilarious encounters with the hostile natives. In 'Bastille' Miranda Richardson unwittingly wins back her husband's love just as he was about to run of with his mistress. In 'Parc Morceau' Nick Nolte is the gravelly-voiced sugar dad (and I'm not giving away the surprise at the end!) who can't get a smoke! Elijah Wood is swept up by love of a vampire in 'Quartier de la Madeleine'. Rufus Sewell is given unexpected marriage counselling by the ghost of Oscar Wilde while visiting his tomb. Natalie Portman is the young actress whose blind lover 'sees' her though her voice in 'Faubourg' but can't tell when she is acting. 'Quartier Latin' has Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazzara in the most sparkling verbal gunfight ever between a divorcing couple, whilst Gerard Depardieu gets his name on the credits for just serving them wine. Saving the best till last though, is Margo Martindale as Carol, the middle-aged, plump, sensible American housewife, in '14e Arrondisement'. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry for her. Her beautifully narrated sketch is a great, understated and unique movie moment not to be missed.

I loved everyone of these short films, (except one). So much so I even watched it again which I never do.

Short films must be difficult to write. I love that each short film is set in Paris & almost all are spoken in French (English Subtitles).

Beautiful, well written, some funny, some sad. Films to pull on your heart strings!
