brilliant

I absolutely loved this series and I only hope the bbc bring it back for a second series. although i dont think it got a huge amount of publicity unfortunately.
you can tell the person behind this life was involved because its brilliantly written with great characters that you see develop over the course of the series. what i love most is that none of them are perfect individuals, some appear more flawed than others but over the course of the series - those that seem pretty saintly become tarnished in some shape or form.
I love the central love triangle between Ashika, Scott and James - it's great the way you see Ashika the young, inexperienced politician outgrowing the rather boyish spoilt James character. Top marks for Scott - what a great character.
But for the me the best characters are Danny, Kirsty and their boss - I absolutely loved their scenes together and loved the way Danny's honesty, naivety and decency starting to have an effect slowly over the rather selfish, uncaring and quite brutal Kirsty.
fingers crossed for a second series.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)brilliant series
By sweetlikechocolate (13 reviews) from Darlington, county durham , 14 Jun 2011originally rented this because i love the talent of Andrew buchan and started to quite like him for his acting ability.
Reason why i like this is because you can imagine what goes on behind the door of the house of commons and the wars of the tories and labour dems. I was routing for scott and ashima to become a couple but things turn out to be different for the both of them.
I can't think of any similar titles that come near this fabilyumsious series but i recommend this if you are a matt smith fan or andrew buchan fan.
Roll on series two.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bring it back BBC
By a customer , 17 May 2011Good acting, funny take on politics and definitely makes you want to watch another episode. While not my fav comedy it is definitely a great series and I really can't understand why more weren't made, unless the actors had other work? Can anyone from the BBC explain?- Was this review helpful to you?

The Party is Over
By recycledstardust (16 reviews) from Scotland , 09 May 2011Mainly wanted to see this cause I had missed the series on TV and a big fan of Andrew Buchan.
Was disappointed and found it just couldn't keep my attention and actually a bit boring. I've now cancelled the other discs as have no enthusiasm for any more Party Animals.- Was this review helpful to you?

All the same species
By Cathy from Uckfield, Sussex , 25 May 2009A very well written BBC drama. An interesting take on what happens within the Hse of Commons. Both parties are presented as basically being of the same species, the difference being one side wears red and the other wears blue (in the opening scene). Both sides believe passionately in their 'cause', neither being right. Shelly Conn as the young A List Tory candidate in a Labour stronghold seat, is brill as her character challenges all the old forgies as she battles to become a MP (whilst having an ongoing affair with a shadow minister! some things never change ). Andrew Buchan and Matt Smith as the Labour brothers, show a good on-screen chemistry - idealist vs realist. A very entertaining story.- Was this review helpful to you?

Sexy Tories.
By DanChinaski (13 reviews) from Manchester , 12 May 2009Good series, political lobbyists have sex with each other. Very good acting, unfortunately let down by a poor final episode.- Was this review helpful to you?
