Enjoyably far-fetched with fun characters and a big dollop of emotions. Excellent camera angles and editing. A fun take on a difficult historical period. Rishi kapoor is brilliant and cricket cameos are great!

I did not like this movie that much but it is worth a watch. Some subjects are true about what our grandparents went through in the 60s and 70s in the UK

This has many similarities with Lagaan:

    1) It has cricket

    2) It has the British

    3) Conflict between indians and the British

This does not even come come close to Lagaan which was very enjoyable. They live in a detached house but the inside looks like a bollywood house. It's like the Tardis, small from outside, big from the inside. Script is poor, too many faults, typical Bollywood film, set in Southall. Rishi Kapoor is the all powering father who seems to suffocate his family as he is anti-british and does not allow his family to follow their dreams and every one is too scared to stand up to him., Been there, done that etc.

  • could have been much better

A potentially interesting storyline for Bollywood, exploring cultural identity for British Asians is unfortunately let down by woeful direction. Akskay Kumar gives a commendably restrained performance for a change and Rishi Kapoor is on good form as the domineering patriach. However, Anushka Sharma's performance leaves much to be desired. The film lacks pace, and veers off towards hopelessly unfunny farcical scenes involving wedding preparations and 'elaborate' deceptive devices being put in place to avoid the patriach catching a glimpse of his son Akshay playing cricket for the England team. Could have been a much better film in the hands of a more competent director.

  • Boring and dull!

very rarely watch Bollywood movies now, due loads of craps one about. Heard this one was a hit and has Akshay in it. However, the movie was a big let down. The whole film was shot in London!

So it could have been made by C4 or the BBC. The worst of all, it was so boring and dull, that I stopped half-way and couldn't watch any further.

Great for cricket lovers and families, enjoyably far fetched, fun characters, lots of comedy and lots of emotions. Anuskha Sharma acts well.
