(6)A cracking film
By Gibboncore from Newcastle upon Tyne , 12 Sep 2005The beautiful cinematography, great screenplay and fabulous acting helps capture wonderfully the essence of life in small town Flanders.
Pauline lives with her carer, who I think is her oldest sister, but she regularly slips off into town to pester Paulette who runs a small shop.
Pauline is obsessed by Paulette, and Paulette is embarrassed by Pauline.
The two leading ladies are famous actresses in Belgium and the interplay between the two of them is so natural.- Was this review helpful to you?

Absolutely lovely!
By Moles from Aberdeenshire , 13 Apr 2005The director seems to have visualised and dreamt about each and every frame of this film since he was a young boy. It is so colourful and magical, especially Paulette's shop! As if you saw it from a child's eyes. The few main charachters have very definite roles and personalities, you will just love to hate the butcher's wife and Albert is just so afraid of anything that isn't perfect... They are all very good. I agree with what Radio Times wrote, that it is like a chocholate box. It also proves that there is no need for nudity, violence and youth in a film to make it great and to attract viewers, I will recommend this film to anybody.- Was this review helpful to you?
