    It's a good film...

OK so you're never going to get a film anywhere near as good as the book in this case, I've read the book and is No.1 on my booklist (of about 2!!).

The film is actually satisfying in that it seems to have been given the Hollywood gloss yet has retained the anchor of a spiritual context. There are some parts of the film that made me giggle where Socrates responds to Dan's constant questioning, and other times that make me smile inside (with the wisdom being imparted).

I didn't think that Nick Nolte would suit the role of Socrates (not the image I had in my minds eye), but he doesn't manage to spoil it which is important - so well done Nick!

The film is farily slow but still keeps your attention throughout.

So, why the 5 stars? Well I think they should make more films like this with the powerful medium of movie making that they have. Highly Recommended!!
