The gory opening sequence of Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan has been voted the most memorable movie battle scene of all time, according to film fans. The bloody scene in the World War II epic depicts the D-Day landings when the Allied troops invaded Normandy, and is the top choice for voters in the poll by TV provider Freesat - picking up 46 per cent of the votes. De Niro joins Fine cast

Screen legend Robert De Niro has joined Charlie's Angels star Drew Barrymore and Pearl Harbour's Kate Beckinsale in the cast of comedy remake Everybody's Fine, according to reports. Industry newspaper Variety says De Niro, whose CV includes Raging Bull, Godfather II, Goodfellas and Casino, will take the lead in the move, which is remake of Italian film Stanno Tutti Bene. Elm Street gets a recurring nightmare

A Nightmare On Elm Street, the horror franchise that spawned dream-haunting, bladed-glove-toting serial killer Freddie Krueger, is set to receive the remake treatment, according to reports in Hollywood. Industry bible Variety reports that New Line, who were behind the 1984 original, have appointed Platinum Dunes to handle Freddie's makeover. The Big Lebowski star John Goodman and Grosse Point Blank's Joan Cusack are to team up as the parents of Wedding Crashers actress Isla Fisher for a new comedy, according to reports in Hollywood. Industry paper Variety says Goodman and Cusack, who also appeared in High Fidelity and School of Rock, have both signed up for Confessions of a Shopaholic, which is based on a novel by Sophie Kinsella.
