    [Highly rated reviewer]

This film is a fantasy and adventure movie which uses the concepts of ancient Greek mythology.

Percy Jackson is a 12 year old boy diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, who has been expelled from several schools.

On a trip with his mother, his friend Grover is revealed to be a satyr. Grover tells Percy's mother that Percy must go to a certain camp. As they drive towards camp, they are attacked by a Minotaur who grabs Percy's mother. She dissolves into a golden shower of light, while Grover and Percy narrowly escape.

Percy later wakes up and discovers that he has arrived in Camp Half-Blood which is a secret training ground for demigods.

Percy is moved into the Hermes cabin under the care of Luke who is the Cabin counsellor.

Whilst playing a Capture the Flag game, Percy is attacked by the children of Ares and is injured.

However Percy heals when he steps into the river and finds out that he is the son of Poseidon the sea God when Poseidon's trident appears above his head.

Poseidon had broken an oath taken with Hades and Zeus after World War II of not having any more children since they were too powerful.

What happens next....watch the film to find out !!

There’s nothing inherently wrong with this Harry Potter fill-in where high school kid Lerman discovers he’s a demi-god and son of Poseidon. It’s just that it’s all so ordinary and rather uninspired, which is not what you’re looking for in a fantasy epic. So while it’s filled to overflowing with frantic plotting, the characters barely make an impact, the all-star cast have nothing to do (though Thurman makes for an interesting Medusa) and after a while the surfeit of special effects don’t seem so special.

Really, really poor. To call it the poor relation of Harry Potter would be to insult poor relations. Formulaic, predictable and frankly boring. .

My daughter is a lover of Greek mythology and is currently reading this book for her literacy class. She informs me the film closely resembles the story, and that all characters and major storylines are all present and correct. Never having enjoyed the book myself, I cant compare, but as a film on its own, I found it a good family friendly watch. Kudos to Uma Thurmans 'Medusa'. Creepy!

Total rubbish. Do not waste your time on this one. Probably good if you want to fall asleep. Should have negative stars.
