I remember watching this on TV when I was a teenager and thought it was about time I saw it again as Nigel Havers is such a good actor! He brilliantly portrays a war pilot Hugh Fleming who is badly burned after being shot down in his plane. The story then focuses on the aftermath of his injuries, intertwined with flashbacks from his past when he was a charasmatic and dashing young man before the accident. We also see how his family and friends cope with Hughs disfigurement and his gradual return to life once more.
