Leaving Genesis was a very good move for Peter Gabriel otherwise he could have ended up as bland as fellow bandmate Phil. Instead he's produced near on 30 years worth of quality music and you do get the impression now that he does veer more to the 'arty' side and is releasing stuff that is what he wants to release, and not to appeal to 'the masses'. This DVD is a fine live recording featuring some 2 and a quarter hours of Peter (and band) performing 'in the round', effortlessy breezing through a load of his compositions. He does bizarrely look like a cross between Dennis Hopper and Anthony Hopkins on this gig. Not a huge collection of hits (bar the obligatory 'Solsbury Hill' and 'Sledgehammer') but a fine gig nonetheless, very colourful and presented in anamorphic widescreen and a superb DTS soundtrack.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Alsalsa (3 reviews) from Liverpool , 22 Apr 2010Feel the DVD caught much of the atmosphere.
A well paced show with much planning with regard to making the visuals match the high callibre of the music.
I've struggled to find time to get into Gabriels later work, but this show made the newer material vital and captivating.- Was this review helpful to you?

red reign
By a customer from much birch , 12 Mar 2009Peter always did put on a good show, and here he pushes the technology as far as it will go...simple at times, but always to suit the music.
It was good to see old faces in the band along with the new blood ( as a guy, if you had hair you may well have failed the audition ) and the sound quality is excellent.
Along with the Talking Heads 'Stop making sense' Dvd, this has to be one of the best live-show-films.- Was this review helpful to you?

Customer Review
By a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008Ive just rented this DVD just to compare it to the dissapointing Secret World Live DVD that I own and the difference is amazing.
I actually went to see Gabriels Secret world concert and it was fantastic, god only knows what happened to that DVD.
The Growing up DVD is well worth a look, it is truly spectacular in parts(revolving stage, bicycles, illuminated jacket, orb ball to name but a few) and the live renditions are fantastic as ever. A great musical experience for any Gabriel fan. A must have DVD- Was this review helpful to you?
