    Britten's best

Thoroughly enjoyed this opera. The orchestration depicting sea and storm in the interludes is excellent, and the singing and singers through out ,likewise. The staging, complete with ships excetra, could not have been bettered. In spite of its age, this can be heartly recommended for both fans of Britten, and those who are not sure they will enjoy his operas or not.

    Live opera

A magnificent production very well filmed, this kept us watching well beyond bedtime. It benefited from a real sense of being in a live opera house. Some scenes rather dark, but intensely watchable, bravura performances, and the momentum of the plot, made this a very memorable musical and dramatic experience.
