A great chick-flic - don't let the 'Foreign/Arthouse' designation put you off.
Monica Cervera is superb looking forward to seeing more of her: especially in forthcoming '20 centimetres'
The story shows the change happening to the Spain's society. The stories have moved from the usual Almadovar rebellious stories to the narrative we see in Piedras. The society has moved on from the harsh past and is reveling in the riches the changes have brought. But how happy and sincere were these changes? We see the effects in the women portrayed in this film. We see the escape from the riches to the traditional, to the peace and the purity of the old.
We see the change from the macho Spain to one run by strong women longing for the old nostalgia.
