Bizarre, erotic and transfixing

Pink Narcissus was something of a labour of love for it's director. He spent seven years making the movie in his small New York apartment, yet the piece feels expansive and meandering - it becomes more of an experience and exploration: more then than the exotic aesthetic piece that I expected coming to the film for the first time. The director's interview included on the DVD is illuminating, and lends the film a depth greater than one expects. At times it may seem to be a random series of vignettes and an indulgent collection of strangely erotic scenes, but it is essential viewing for any fan of queer or art house cinema. Once you get over the jarring nature of its production, you will be entranced by its queer absurdity.- Was this review helpful to you?

Unusual Fantasy!

Thought it was rubblish at first however, I liked it as it went on in a bizarre way. I think you have to look at this film in a bizarre way & with a pinch of salt. If this is digitally remastered I would enjoyed this a lot more 'clearly' as its showing its age. Perhaps it can be rediscovered as a classic after its been cleaned? Some parts are stunning to look & so is Bobby Kendal (main lead) & some of the other models. I think you should see it at least once.- Was this review helpful to you?

Absolute rubbish.
