MORE KILLER FISH, MORE FLESH, MORE BLOOD......AND THE HOFF!

With Piranha 3DD as the title suggest you get what you pay for.
For those who complained that 2010's Piranha was nothing but trash then they won't think anything else of this, as it's even more trashy!
But for a film that never sets out to be anything else and has it's tongue pushed even further into it's bloody cheek this sequel is just as much gleeful fun. To say this sequel was originally intended to be a cheap driect to DVD / Blu Ray release would have done the film an injustice, as although it never sets it's sights on anything other than being a daft creature feature missing the sight of 'The Hoff' poking fun out of his macho/ self loving image and playing himself as he opens up a waterpark, dressed as Mitch from Bay Watch. Only to find his true calling in life as the hungry fish end up in the pool. For the sight of Hoff running in slow-mo to the Baywatch theme while bathers get munched only for the music to be cut short and Hoff declairing he's too old is worth the price of the ticket alone. This low budget sequel has more action and more laughs than the first, but with a tighter budget when the dinner bell is rung, the havoc is not quite as spectacular as the first film, but with some intentional brilliantly dumb lines the film is great fun.
The film will get mauled by stuffy critics, but for those who enjoyed the daftness of the 2010 movie should relish every minute and in comparison to 2011's shoddy Shark Night, Piranha 3DD tears chunks out of it.- Was this review helpful to you?

A big boob
By RJNeb2 (924 reviews) from London , 29 Apr 2013If you were hoping for something even more delirious than Alexandre Aja's 2010 'Piranha' remake with this cheekily titled follow-up, you're out of luck. Apart from a couple of self-aware but underused cameos by Rhames and Hasselhoff and the immortal line 'Josh cut off his penis because something came out of my vagina', this is a decidedly lacklustre trip back to the piranha-infested well. We might have been promised DDs but we don't get that many of them and the cast is mainly comprised of disposably bland teenage fodder.- Was this review helpful to you?
