I'm Hooked Captain.. this is another 'Pirates' to treasure..
By PaulaWestwood (397 reviews) from Ashton-Under-Lyne , 25 May 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Though this is a long voyage (at 168 minutes !) in many ways 'Worlds End' is even more immense and pleasurable than 1 and 2, the humour and story plot (ably aided by our home talent of McKenzie Crook, Kevin Mcnally, Keira Knightly.. etc etc) is superb.
Without spoiling anything, the lords of the Pirates from the four corners of the globe must put their internal squabbles and infighting on the back burner (not apparently an easy task !) to collect together to fight off the dominance of the East India Trading companies grip on the high seas, and their popular (ha !) member Jack Sparrow must (to their dismay) be rescued from the grip of the Kraken to aid them in their endeavour.
For our family this isn't just a film... it's an event... and we were thoroughly and absolutely absorbed by this. It is fantastic, entirely what cinema is about and shouldn't be missed by anyone young or old.
A most definate recommendation !!- Was this review helpful to you?

(816)Too long, lacks humour
By a customer , 15 May 2012As other reviewers have said, this is too long with a lot of spurious scenes.
Lacks the humour of the previous films and Keira Knightley seems to have demanded (and got) a bigger role in this film much to the detriment of the story.
The scenes with Jack in Davey Jones's locker were straight out of some weird film like Donny Darko or Where the Wild Things are, and were completely out of kilter with the whole film series.
Best tip - read the synopsis of the film elsewhere and skip watching it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not great
By a customer , 25 Nov 2011Struggled with this. Bit too long and less gripping than the others. The sequence with Jack in Davy Jones Locker was really repetitive. Bit disappointing.- Was this review helpful to you?

OK...but more of the same as before
By DavidNotts (8 reviews) from Nottingham , 25 Oct 2011The film lacks the pace and knowing references and comedy that the other two films had in common. It also seems to be full of padding and is overlong and a much tighter job could have been fitted into 90-120 minutes. However, there is still much to entertain and the ending is unexpected...but not the tearjerker that the writers may have wanted it to have been.- Was this review helpful to you?

load of bilge
By chasable (2 reviews) , 04 Oct 2011only positives are the special effects and geoffrey rush. I'm afraid the plot and acting are as awful as Mark kermode said they were. only made it to the end because i'm stuck in hospital with nothing else to do-watched it on a laptop, so it might have scored slightly higher on a bigger screen.- Was this review helpful to you?
