It takes an age before Johnny Depp shows his face in Pirates the Third, and when he does, it's the tip of his nose that looms into screen left, eventually succeeded by a flaring nostril. I doubt there's been a larger, longer close up of a proboscis this side of Seabiscuit. There's no rhyme or reason for it, really, but our indulgence is rewarded when not one, not two, but an entire crew of digital Johnnies hive into view, flouncing and flailing for all they are worth. Johnny Depp is set to receive a record-breaking fee for his part in the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Depp is reportedly being paid £32 million to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth instalment of the popular franchise. It will make him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, even topping Tom Hanks' £29 million for the Da Vinci Code sequel Angels and Demons. The number of sequels comprising this summer's line-up of Hollywood blockbusters has been noted by a journalist, who suggests that it might not be a good thing.
