I can't agree with the other reviewer about this DVD. While I'll agree The Pixies ARE a great band I have to take issue with saying they're not exciting to watch. Granted they don't have a stage show, as such, but then they never did. What they do have is powerful, beautiful songs and strong musicianship. Frank Black's primal-scream howling still sends shivers up my spine like it did when first I heard them 17 years ago. There are no pyrotechnics, no fancy lighting, no dance routines just pure, unadulterated brilliance that shone through for me despite the matter of fact shooting of the actual concerts (I say concerts since there are several edited together to make this DVD).
If you are a Pixies fan you could do a lot worse than rent this to see that they've lost none of their power and resonance. If not but you wonder what they fuss is about this is as good an entry level as you'll find. Rent it
It's a good show! The ol' Pixies are pretty tight although Frank can't seem to scream lke he used to! A great set list and good sound. A really good choice for Pixies fans. Now hat I have seen it I am going to buy it.
