Plan 9 from Outer Space

Just bad, acting bad, sound bad, set is bad....filmed badly (sometimes its day sometimes night!) I had hoped it was so bad it was good,but essentially its just bad.

There are not many movies like Plan 9... It must be incredibly difficult to came up with such a story infested with plot holes, amazingly bad acting, dead Bela Lugosi all mixed up in one giant mess! :) I admit I enjoyed watching this movie, it's a true gem of 'good' bad movies. Legend!

Famous for being possibly the worst movie ever made, every serious film fan probably gives it a try at some stage right?

For the same reasons so many people like this film, I couldn't even force myself to watch it to the conclusion.

Bad acting, bad sets, bad everything. Yes it can be viewed as a cult classic, but I'm not a believer in something being so bad that it's good. This is so bad that Ed Wood never became a major player, and the only reason most of us have ever heard of him is thanks to the probably equally screwy Tim Burton.

I tried it, but it just wasn't for me. Perhaps a viewing while inebriated would make it more entertaining and less painful but we'll call that Plan 9.

I love Tim Burton's Ed Wood film so I had to watch this film to see for myself how bad this movie really is and my god, Burtons film was not exaggerating. This is truly awful in epic proportions that it is indeed amusing to watch how terrible it is.

But I will not give it 5 stars just because it is the ultimate so bad, its funny films ever made. That wont be right, 5 or 4 stars should be reserved for deserved well made films. But nor will I give it 1 star because as I said there is indeed much amusement to be had from watching the most incompetant movie making and the film maker is obviously passionate in the film he is making here (perhaps because I am a little persuaded by the Tim Burton bio). So I rate somewhere in between.

Much is written about how bad it is so I will try to say extract the parts that were done well.

Um...ok. I cant think of any at the moment, so I will scrap that idea. What is the worst thing about this for me? Well the editing. My god, the editing is hilarious. The continuity is absolutely nonsensical such as several scenes taking part in both day and night withing a few in-movie seconds.

I will say that if you have seen Burtons's Ed Wood (must see movie with Johnny Depp, be sure to rent it if you havent seen it), you will enjoy this more because there so many scenes that will look familiar from Burton's recreation.

A must see if you want proof of how bad this film is.
