    [Highly rated reviewer]

Planet 51 is an animated film starring Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel as Neera, Justin Long as Lem, Seann William Scott as Skiff, Gary Oldman as General Grawl and John Cleese as Professer Kripple.

The film follows a human astronaut called Captain Charles 'Chuck' Baker (played by Dwayne Johnson formerly the wrestler called 'The Rock' who has also starred in 'The Game Plan' ) who lands on Planet 51 thinking he is the first to set foot on it.

However, he discovers it is inhabited by little green people who live in a white picket-fenced world reminiscent of the 1950's America.

This freaks out the aliens, who think he is an alien.

    Well worth watching !!

A great family film with a very fun and original storyline. Great animation, some lovely soundtracks, thoroughly enjoyable. A solid 4 stars. See this if you liked Monsters vs Aliens, Monsters Inc., or Megamind.

I love how it's set in a futuristic 1950's, I thought that was great however I hate to say that I didn't find the movie as good as I was expecting. I still liked it & found bits funny it was just different from my expectations

a mosaic of ideas from so many science fiction movies, it's really a homage, the way shrek is for folk tales, but adds a core theme akin to ET but abandoned earth man on 'alien' planet. very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this for the little nods and winks to sci-fi precedents (the Planet 9 / Area 51 switch being one of my faves). The movie is pitched at a family entertainment level so the actual story and some of the gags may seem a bit obvious for grown-ups, but I really liked the character design, the animation, the subtle atmosphere effects (like the bits of fluff dancing in sunlight in the background during one scene) and the overall fun feel of it. I was also pleasantly surprised at its European origins which only became apparent when reading the names in the closing credits.

Highly recommend for a family Sunday session in front of the telly.

This has some great celebrity voice talents behind it but it still manages to be a bit rubbish. The script is weak and so everything else suffers. It is a very good idea to show the other side of the whole alien story, but they could have made it brilliant. It's a shame
