The latest David Attenborough nature documentary series, shot in HD. This ambitious 2006 series, described as 'the definitive look at the diversity of our planet' was the first ever to be filmed entirely in high definition. Every episode but the first one looks at one of the Earth's natural habitats and examines its local features, together with the breadth of fauna found there. While filming it, the crew caught several firsts - places and animals never before caught on camera. The fact that it was co-funded by Discovery Channel, BBC and Japan's NHK, took 5 years to make and was shot in over 200 locations is apparent and the series is everything you'd expect from Sir David Attenborough and his team if they were unconstrained by budget or practicality.

This latest offering from the BBC is the most visually stunning and entertaining. The whole series is filmed in Hi Def and some spectacular scenes will amaze you. If you have any interest in the natural world or just want to show off your projector or HDTV then rent this series. Ive seen most of the BBC wildlife documentaries and this is the best so far

David Attenborough is a legend and this series is a masterpiece. The pictures are amazing and the shots are incredibibly beautiful. In blu-ray is a must see. Some parts are incredibly depressing and sad but this is nature at its best

Would recommend to all. Beautiful cinematography, great narration.

As an added bonus, you get the chance to see 'how they filmed' diaries at the end of each chapter - not seen on the broadcast version.

Did enjoy this documentary. Its amazing what you can learn from Planet Earth documentaries. Very knowledgable programme! Great if you love The Blue Planet!
