This latest offering from the BBC is the most visually stunning and entertaining. The whole series is filmed in Hi Def and some spectacular scenes will amaze you. If you have any interest in the natural world or just want to show off your projector or HDTV then rent this series. Ive seen most of the BBC wildlife documentaries and this is the best so far
OK so it would be helpful ' person glued to sofa ' if you watched the whole set before giving a review.
Anyways, this has been one of the best docs ever made. Really. Filmed in HD it looked spectacular on BBC HD on Sky. You do loose a little on the dvd, but if you have an up-scaling dvd player this looks as good as you can get atm. Way too many scenes to pick out, but the mother and baby elephant after the sand storm, and the polar bear were huge emotional moments. You really have got to watch this
The effort the production team must have gone through is quite amazing. Its great to see the planet in its digital glory but I have not seen anything quite like this. There are so much to see and learn from this production.

Wow, this series is stunning in every respect. The narration is superb, the 5.1 soundtrack places you right there and the content is informative. You will experience every emotion with this one from bewilderment, shock, sadness through to amazement and elation.
You will really enjoy every aspect of the series and it is truly difficult to say what is the best aspect of it but for my money it has to be the visuals. If you have just treated yourself to a high definition TV and an up-scaling HDMI player then you have got to see this series, it really is stunning and left me quite speechless - it is that good! Do what I have done, rent it and then put it on your christmas list.
I believe this is the best natural history documentary series ever made. Full marks on all counts. It is hard to imagine where this genre can go to improve on this wonderful, beautiful, awe-inspiring epic.
find yourself a blu-ray player. a good sized HD tv. and rent this.
worth every minute of viewing time
I'd echo all of the other comments here and say this a spectacular set of Blu-rays. Awesome photography throughout regardless of the environment, and the best commentary too.
My only (very slight) disappointment is that the blu-rays are in 1080i rather than higher quality 1080p, but I think this is about as good as 1080i can get, which is impressive. I'm sure 1080p would have been jaw-dropping though!
Wow. Stunning from start to finish. The Beeb and David Attenborough have excelled themselves. Planet earth is a pretty amazing place really.
This is such a joy to watch... Just wonderfull camera work. The Music and sound is Absolute first class too. And who else would you want but Mr attenborough for the voice over?
The camera work is truly stunning. And on the back of every episode there is a documentary on how a part of that episode was made, again narrated by David Attenborough.
I've only seen a few episodes so far, & I'm impressed every time I watch another one.(And there are a lot of episodes here.) Not only extremely informative & involving, but very relaxing too. Enjoy nature covered in the finest classiest detail ever.
Wow! It makes you really think about the world outdside your window!!! The extra's where outstanding! For a documantary nothing can compare to this exciting and eye opening experience! With Sir David Attenbrough informing us! This is something everyone should see! Emotional, Informative & Beautiful
