Planet of the Plonkers!

I didn't actually realize that this version was going to be hilarious - although I'm pretty certain that this is NOT what Tim Burton had in mind when he decided to direct the film! Therefore one would have thought this to be very dark with astounding special effects and all the rest (which let's face it, is going to be the ONLY reason to attempt to better the original). However, watching a load of apes bouncing up and down throwing themselves all over the place made me laugh - and that's before one catches sight of Helena Bonham-Carter in full tomboy militant mode! The fact that the original version made the apes movement more human-like and the humans unable to talk was surely the POINT of it in the first place. Think about it - what separates humans from apes? A voice box! Well, my voice box is well and truly telling you "NOT TO BOTHER!"
