This is the most exciting opera production I've seen since McVicar's Rigoletto. If you want to see breakdancing frogs, men wearing tutus and umbrellas, and a magnificent opera-singing drag act, look no further. The accent of the opera is quite heavily towards dance, and the dancers in this are very good. The costumes are lavish and the set is very clever: in fact I still don't know how they did some of it. The music is wonderful - Handel, eat your heart out - and is conducted with a nod to the work's humour. All in all, as fine a cross between opera and pantomime that you'll ever see: highly entertaining.
