Beginners only!
By M Watson from UK , 08 Feb 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Decent dvd, split into easily accessible chapters, but definitely for beginners only.
All the techniques are demonstrated reasonably well, but unless you have only recently bought your first guitar or been playing for a few weeks/months, then you will find little here that you don't already know.
The footage itself is very dated looking, too, which will make you laugh at first, but doesn't really detract from the dvd too much.
On the whole the dvd is okay for novice guitarists, but otherwise you shouldn't bother.- Was this review helpful to you?

helpful
By a customer from London , 16 Mar 2005My 2 sons are learning from it easily and they like it. They had wanted to learn guitar for sometime now, but it hadn't worked out for them to take private lessons, yet. However now they're having a start in learning from the video, until personalised lessons become available. Of course, a lot of credit goes to the young persons who are taking it seriously and applying themselves.- Was this review helpful to you?

For the beginner, definately
By nat841 from West Yorkshire , 13 Jan 2005This DVD doesn't contain any jazz chord tuition! It is aimed at the very beginning stages of playing the guitar, and covers standard tuning, basic open chords, chord progressions, simple fingerstyle pieces (The House of the Rising Sun), an introduction to barre chords etc. and a good section on soloing using the A minor pentatonic scale.
It's good if you're completely new, though you'd have to make notes as some of the skills introduced in this can take months to develop, not hours e.g. barre chords! If you've been playing for a good number of months/years then there really is nothing useful you can pick up from this DVD.- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer from wales , 22 Sep 2004Not a bad introduction to the very basics of guitar playing but not much else.If youve been learning to play for more than a couple of months then this is not for you, However, its worth a look if your just starting.- Was this review helpful to you?
