The action may have been shifted from the quiet English resort of Loomouth to Acapulco, but this is still just about recognisable as the novel Three Act Tragedy. With vicars and eminent neurologists falling like flies, even Hercule Poirot isn't convinced foul play is afoot until he discovers the dangers of colourless nicotine. A splendid cast of suspects lines up for the obligatory quizzings and revelations, with Tony Curtis, Lisa Eichhorn and Emma Samms giving nothing away. Peter Ustinov engages the little grey cells for the fifth time in what isn't a classic Christie, but it should keep you guessing.
I liked this story very much, however I felt that the story was not true to the book. There were a lot of omissions. In the book the story is told from the perspective of the nurse who takes care of Mrs Leidner. It is the nurse that asks Poirot for help when the murder is committed. Otherwise, it is a good adaptation - read the book first!
another great installment from the poirot collection
