AKA Yes Madam.

This is the DVD release of the 1985 Hong Kong action film "Yes Madam." The film that launched both Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock into action movies, this has a wafer thin plot but action and exceptional fight sequences to spare. Produced by Sammo Hung (Who makes a funny cameo as a diry old man.) and directed by Corey Yuen, the plot concerns a piece of microfilm that can put a cocky gangster (played by James Tien) away for the rest of his life. Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock are police officers who team up to find the micro film.
Tsui Hark, in a very rare in front of the camera appearance, is part of a con gang who can break the case. The ubiquitous Dick Wei is on hand as the main fighting bad guy, and the final sequence has almost as much glass flying around as Jackie Chan's Police Story. A little dated now, this is still entertaining stuff. This is well worth the viewing just to see how the greatest screen female action star started out. Michelle Yeoh is nothing short of stunning.
This is another fabulous Hong Kong Legends DVD release, so be prepared for some nifty extras as well as a first class film print that you can watch in original Cantonese with English subtitles, or with English dubbed soundtrack. Bey Logan is on hand again for his usual Commentary.- Was this review helpful to you?
