    Jackie Chan does it again

Jackie Chan is truly a legend and he does not let us down with his performance in Police Story. Jackie Chan indulges in some slightly unorthodox policing to ensure that he catches the big boss. Sadly his tactics earn him a demotion and the big boss is out on bail due to a technicality.

But, New Jack criminals need a New Jack cop to stop them, and it?s not long before Chan?s new assignment ? protecting the reluctant star witness ? leads him into the usual death-defying stunts involving buses, cars, lots of glass tables, and some good old fashioned kicking.

Jackie Chan really invented the concept of DVD extra features, when, from the early 1980?s, his films ended with deleted scenes while the credits rolled. He is unashamed of making mistakes, and as an actor who always plays his own stunts, he has had a fair share of accidents along the way. Police Story is all round good entertainment ? they don?t make ?em like this anymore!

If you liked Police Story, you may also like to hire [Police Story II], [Rush Hour] and [Rush Hour 2].

    Police Glory.

This is the film that really put Jackie Chan on the international map. From the opening shanty town drive through to the shopping mall showdown at the end this is a true masterpiece of action comedy. Jackie does some incredible stunts, clinging to the side of a speeding bus, sliding down a 90 foot pole through windows and glass lights. This is a benchmark from Jackie that he constantly tried to live up to. He made this after being so disappointed with his previous American made police thriller, The Protector. He had something to prove....and prove it he did.

    Police Glory.....

This is the film that really put Jackie Chan on the international map in my opinion. From the opening Shanty Town drive through to the shopping mall showdown at the end this is a true masterpiece of action comedy. Jackie does some incredible stunts, clinging to the side of a speeding double decker bus, sliding down a 90 foot pole through windows and glass lights with only his bare skinned hands to slow him down. This film provides a high standard from Jackie that he constantly tries to live up to.

Jackie felt compelled to make a police film after his previous American made thriller "The Protector" went down so badly in the USA. He felt he had something to prove about makeing good action films... and prove it he did.

    One of Jackie's finest

If you are into action/martial arts and you havn't seen this film I urge to to RENT IT NOW! Jackie was inspired to make this film after he appeared in an awful, Hollywood produced film called "The Protector". Jackie hated "The Protector" and set out to make his own cop movie. He threw everything at this film. This film contains some of the most amazing stunts you will ever see. In fact, the first stunt is one of the most amazing stunts of all time (I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it). The stunt has recently been "copied", less well in "Bad Boys 2". Also there is Zero blue screen/CGI in Hong Kong Films. What you see is what the Jackie and his stunt team actually did.

As always in Jackie's movies, the plot is not as important as the action but I don't care.

    Police Glory!

This has to remain one of Jackie Chan's best films. The action is high volume and some scenes are very funny. This film acts as a good starting point for those interested in Jackie's Hong Kong films.

The DVD itself also impressed me allowing you the option to watch the film with subtitles or dubbed. It also contains an interesting commentary from a Hong Kong film expert and a good iterview with Mr. Chan.

If you like Martial Arts movies you'll love this film.

    A

Old martial arts films aren't really my thing (modern day films really do make them look rather silly), but I have some time for the truly decent ones - Enter The Dragon, Drunken Master, Police Story, etc. This film will entertain you for a little while but you may well get bored before the end. The 'comedy' sequences are laughable for all the wrong reasons, but some of the stunts do still look pretty cool.

Ignore the nerds that insist this kind of film is still bloody amazing - cause frankly it's not, it's dated to hell. But that doesn't mean it still isn't kinda fun - worth a rental if you can't think of anything better to do.

    Glass Story

A film that features not one, but two of the greatest stunts Jackie ever performed. The iconic latching on to a bus with an umbrella and the truly mind meltingly dangerous, “I can't believe he actually did that”, leap of death from the top floor of a shopping mall. This film is the reason Chan became uninsurable in Hong Kong and had to self-financed medical coverage in all his future projects.

The fact that both of these stunts come at the end of hugely elaborate 10 minute action sequences, should give you a hint as to how much this film pushes the envelope. From town-destroying automobile smash ups, to kicking bad guys through endless panes of glass, every second is packed with wild invention and blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments of genius that have to be seen to be believed.

The typical blend of Lloyd/Chaplin/Keaton inspired physical comedy, along with some of the best fight sequences Chan ever choreographed, combine to create the most unadulterated film in his canon. I sometimes think of this as the Citizen Kane of kung-fu movies, as only Project A or Who Am I? came close to raising the bar higher and no other action star attained this level of spectacle. Jet Lee used too much editing and I'm sorry Tony Jaa and Stephen Chow, you guys have a way to go yet.

Forget latter Chan with greenscreens and CGI, watch him unplugged and in his prime. They may never be allow to make films this way again.

Jackie Chan is excellent in this action comedy about a police officer who tries to convince a woman who works for a crime boss into standing up in court and testifying against him.<p>

The story is good but the action sequences and stunts make it great. The finale is something to be seen. If you like Chan then this is must see. If you don't, this may convert you.
