The haunted Freeling family has moved to Arizona to stay with grandma. But, guess what? The evil spirits aren't giving up their pursuit of the family's daughter, Heather O'Rourke. This inferior sequel does little more than recycle the original story, yet there are enough supernatural visitations and grisly surprises to prevent the ghostly goings-on from getting dull. The ghouls this time are from a religious sect presided over by the creepy Julian Beck, who gives a marvellous fire-and-brimstone performance. Director Brian Gibson may think throwing assorted monsters at the screen is enough, but it's the more bizarre gimmicks (such as near-strangulation by a possessed teeth brace) that provide the fun cheap chills.
"...It's another horrifying house party at the Freelings....Jerry Goldsmith is also back with another haunting score..."
Only one word describes this film. Ridiculous! Clearly trying to cash in on the first films success, the plot is flimsy, the effects are shockingly bad and it is as scary as a childrens tea party.
My boyfriend and I were in hysterics at the final showdown scene. Good for a laugh, but not much else.
poltergeist 11 very good but not as good as the first one
