Popeye is a musical comedy high seas adventure, starring Robin Williams as the titular hero Popeye, the sailor! Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl, directed by Robert Altman, based on the 1930s comic strip. Popeye comes to Sweethaven in search of his father or Pappy, as he refers to him. He falls in love with Olive Oyl, and gets into a feud with Bluto, which accumulates into a huge fight. Fans of Popeye would enjoy this, it's been a couple of years since I'd seen anything related to Popeye, but Popeye is a memorable character from pop culture. I remember my mum trying to convince me to eat my spinach and saying I'll be like Popeye! But even that wasn't enough to convince me, as it just tasted too strong! I'm 20 years old, and I still can't eat it, unless it's in a sauce... Anyway, my favourite song in the film was I am What I am! I like that philosophy, of being yourself, and not letting anyone make you be any different. I think we can all relate to that. After watching this film, I found out that there was an extended version which I'm going to try and watch, because I think there was a song in that version that's cut from this, 'I'm Mean' sung by Bluto. This is a nice fun easy film, something to sit down and watch with the kids. If you're a fan of Popeye, go watch this!
