If you like your films with their message blunt, their jokes crude and their characters predictable, Porky's 2 will do you fine. This isn't Oscar-worthy viewing, but, as anyone who's seen the original can testify, that's missing the point a little. This is a popcorn comedy in the traditional 80s vein, and it evidently doesn't care.
Porkys had an unabashed sense of fun that gets transferred to the sequel. Don't go looking for depth of characters- essentially, it's still a bunch of guys 'on the prowl' and raising hell. Provided you don't mind the introduction of KKK, Southern Christian and Native American stereotypes, and can ignore gaping plot holes and jokes that have dimmed slightly with age, you'll like Porky's 2.
Really, only a true sour-faced David Lynch fan could fail to laugh at this. Its a simplistic film, yet manages to deal with a lot of 'broader issues'- the convincing representation of anti-semitism of the first replaced by a general racial broadside; generally ensuring that anyone who is ignorant, selfish or both gets their commeuppance.
Even reviewing seems to go against the ethos of the film- but if you find the thought of KKK members running naked around an evangelist church meeting hilarious, you could do a lot worse than rent this.
