It was always a poor man's Animal House, but the sheer tastelessness of the whole affair still manages to exude a strange charm. Set in the 1950s, this crude, crass comedy centres around the elaborate revenge plotted by a group of students on the redneck owner of the local bar-cum-whorehouse, Porky's. Director Bob Clark makes a few misguided nods to serious issues such as anti-Semitism. For the most part, though, he sticks to a seamless mix of vulgar sexual gags and spectacular slapstick, which is most definitely not PC but is often hugely entertaining, nevertheless.

    My all time favourite comedy

I have lost count how many times i have watched this classic teen comedy. This was the first movie that i saw Kim Catterall appear in and it had a lasting impression on me.........well i was only young at the time!!

Its funny from start to finish and is guaranteed to get you busting your sides with laughter.

This isn't just about a group of horny teenagers it actually has a good story line all the way through. Its definitely worth renting.

Why do they call her lassie?

Recently voted the greatest comedy ever, Porky?s pales in comparison to classics like Some Like It Hot, but set the standard for the late 90s teen flick revival. Offering a filthier version of the 80s John Hughes film, Porky?s achieved great success in America and its native Canada. Porky?s is a bar/brothel that literally ejects a group of high school kids looking for kicks, leading to them plotting to get their own back. At times the film is very funny, and some scenes, such as the shower scene and the gym room stick in the mind. Some sub-plots are pointless, attempting to balance the film with a serious message about youth, but this works well as a retro teen comedy in the vein of American Pie and Van Wilder.
