MORE GREAT STUFF
By Derek Pearson from SADDLEWORTH , 07 Jun 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
WHAT GOES FOR SERIES 1 GOES FOR THIS, IT'S SHOWN REGULARLY ON T.V. BUT YOU CAN STILL ENJOY IT. SOME CRITICS HAVE STATED THAT THE FIRST FLOWERING (SERIES 1) WAS BY FAR THE BEST, HOWEVER I FOR ONE SEE ALL THREE SERIES AS A WHOLE, RATHER THAN DISPARATE 'STAND ALONE' SEASONS. GREAT ENSEMBLE PLAYING, WITH A BRILLIANT SCRIPT. THIRTY YEARS OLD!!! SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY- Was this review helpful to you?

(16)Porridge - Series 2
By a customer from Leics , 06 May 2009So after the magnificent opening series we come to series 2 arguably the strongest of the lot, Porridge has got into its stride now and the writing, plots, characters and everything is just spot on - absolutely first class!! New characters are introduced in this series, like old Blanko played by the fabulous David Jason, Lukewarm and The Genial Harry Grout. Also amongst this series is my favourite episode ever of Porridge - 'Disturbing the peace' the episode when McKay goes way on a course and a notorious prison officer Wainwright is brought in, Barraclough is sidelined to the farm and all the prisoners 'arrange' a riot to get rid of Wainwright and reinstall Barraclough and the scene where Wainwright fails to control them and Barraclough walks into the room and politely asks the men to calm down and put things down and they do exactly what he says is an absolute classic!! The whole series is highly recommended!!- Was this review helpful to you?
