  Best of the Very Best...

  In my humble opinion I have to say that this is probably the funniest comedy series ever made. The characters are very strong - Mackay the harsh Scottish guard with his neck 'twitch', Barrowclough the well-meaning and gullible guard, bumbling around pathetically, Godber the innocent and naive prisoner, and of course Norman Stanley Fletcher. Ronnie Barker's acting is superb - his expressions and timing are absolutely perfect.
  
  The extra one-hour program on the disc ‘Britain’s Best Sitcom’ gives an excellent insight into the making of ‘Porridge’ and is well worth viewing. 10 - 10

  Another bowl please!

  Comedy really doesn't get any better than this. Ronnie barker, Richard Beckinsale, Fulton Mackay and Brian Wilde work tgether superbly. The only thing that Ronnie Barker has done on a parr with this is 'Open All Hours' which also had the superb talents of David Jason
