After playing straight man to Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, Danny Glover seized this opportunity to play a loose cannon, an unorthodox cop who is always turning his nose up at authority. The setting is Los Angeles in 1997, and Glover can't work out who or what is murdering the city's gangsters, or why sinister government official Gary Busey is so interested. However, it's not long before he realises that the culprit is far from human. The action sequences are ably staged by Blown Away director Stephen Hopkins, but it lacks the sweaty, claustrophobic tension of the Arnold Schwarzenegger original.
Violent and gore-filled, filmed in a frenetic style that soon wearies.
For those of you who havent seen the predator, this film will be very new and interesting. It has non stop action, suspense and cool special effects. for those of you who have seen the predator with arnie; you already know what to expect, which i would think makes the film even better.
Amazing effects for its time and the predator is just as impressive as always.
If you want a good film with action, blood, an element of fear then this is definately the film for you. Still a good film all this time since the original! just as good as alien any day!
5 stars!
Disappointing, definitely if youve seen the original Arnie movie.
Bad film? Maybe not. Unfortunately if I remember correctly the producers had to find someone to fill the void after Arnie apparently turned down the role (to make Kindergarten Cop of all things).
If you watch the film closely I think you'll find only one maybe two references to the first film. Therefore if you take this film on its own merits, then its pretty decent.
For those of you who are uninitiated, a Predator (alien) has decided to go hunting in LA. The Predator is basically searching for anyone to fight with to demonstrate its superiority and claim their body. It tends to pick out all the violent or warmongering people it can find - so I suppose it isnt that bad a guy really.
This makes for some pretty good action and effects. If you give it a chance then I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
How do you make a sequel to such an intense, thrilling and action packed movie like Predator? Erm
. I dont know and sadly neither did director Stephen Hopkins. After looking this guy up on the net I have not heard of many of his films before this. So who chooses the director of Nightmare on Elm Street 5 to make this? John McTiernans cracking film was just too hard to follow I suspect even for a great director so they chose a nobody that will take the fall. If only James Cameron was about!
Well all in all I still love this film. Its got the Predator in fine form but the script and story are just a rehash of the first set in a city.
Considering this was made in 1990 the special effects are pretty good and Danny Glover is pretty tough as the lead. Just done in by a few too many cheese ridden lines that only Schwarzenegger could deliver and actually get away with. Still, all in all a good movie in its own right even if it doesnt live up to the first.
The sequel to predator with good old Arnie, I thought this was brilliant as it's in a big city this time, The predator takes on some voodoo gangs and there is plenty of action for anyone. The predator itself looks as mean and scary as always, if you haven't seen this you've missed out.

there havn`t been many second time around movies but this one breaks the mould...excellent pace from start to finish ...great!
This follow up film to the magnificent Predator sees Danny Glover take on the stealthy Alien known as the Predator...
With a greater array of weapons than was featured in the 1st film, the viewer is given greater knowledge of the Predator and the reasons behind his trips to Earth; to hunt humans!
Although a little heavy on the gory side this film has a great plot, one which logically cuts from scene to scene, providing a feeling of being pursuded by the unseen killer from the outset.
This if not a film for the faint hearty and for those who like their Sci-Fi quick, bloody and gripping... just remember to look over your shoulder next time you're out on the town...
Can't believe Danny Glover would act in such a time waster!
Lots of shooting, bloody bodies, naked bodies and stupid story line.
Not worth the time and effort!
I wasted one of my dvd rentals on this I thought maybe it was another part of movie but just turns out to be a special features disk it didnt say in title so if your after full film rent disk 1 however film is good enough good if you like the predator type film, I advise watching predator 1 first then this then alien vs predator which is amazing.

Having watched predator which is an absolutely brilliant film some of arnolds best work action everywhere. But the same goes for Predator 2 theres action and little gimics of comedy with little punch lines here and there but all in all a good film worth watching.
