Mathieu's family is fragmented and dysfunctional. On vacation with his clinically depressed mother, her long-suffering carer and his resentful sister, he faces the end of adolescence and realisation of his sexual self when he meets C?dric.

Hard to believe this is Sabastien Lifsh*tz's first feature. Using beautifully timed performances, evocative music and two starkly different seasons, he has woven a delicate and very moving tale. The cast is uniformly excellent, delivering naturalistic, brave and utterly believable performances.

Lifsh*tz is obviously a director to watch.
