Most helpful review
I have seen this movie...
By MAXINE#12 from HONITON , 16 Oct 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
I have seen this movie a few times before renting it out again this time around. You can tell I really love it as I have taken some time to return it!. Basically the film is about rich guy and not so well off girl falling in love.Their eyes meet in a record store where she works. They date, she is embarressedabout where she comes from, which leads to his rich friends giving them a hard time. I fell for the guy - Blaine, instantly. Rent this you will not be disappointed. Great story of love, best friendship and father daughter relationship. Good Winter afternoon viewing!.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty Dam Fine
By a customer from Kingston upon Thames , 15 Nov 2008A beautiful beautiful 80's film by John Hughes.
The acting is super , you really feel for the characters amd so want Blane and Andy to get together and you love ducky for being crazy and hip!
Annie potts ( ghostbusters) is great too .
Everyone is !
The plot is nice , the soundtrack is lovely feel good stuff , its just a really nice movie you cant help but enjoy , only a real cynic would point out faults with it .
Another one for the 80's fans , if you like any of actors here you cant go wrong it really shames current movies made nowadays set in high schools , they just cant recreate the magic the 80's did.- Was this review helpful to you?

awwwww
By onion (316 reviews) from leeds , 11 Oct 2008OK, so since watching 'Not another teen movie' and not getting half of the references, i've since made it my own personal mission to see all those 80's (John Hughes mainly)teen films i never saw as a child.
I spent most of the 80's with fantasy and horror (mainly fantasy) so this is kinda new ground for me. I can't say i'm all that impressed though. 'The breakfast club' was okay, 'Weird science' was sh#t, and this was a bit average.
Again, it's hard to judge films that people have grown up with, and for some i bet this film is amazing. But having just seen it i really don't think it's that great. It just seems like 'John Hughes' takes an okay idea, and then just chucks a load of mtv crap at it. I mean, whats with the Obligatory half arsed music video that seems to frequent all his films?
I may have been a little harsh though (what would someone watching the 'Goonies' for the first time think?) but compared to the likes of 'American pie', 'Heathers', 'Dazed and confused', 'superbad' or even 'Mean girls' this just doesn't cut it for me. Well, at least i won't have to suffer 'High school musical' anytime soon.- Was this review helpful to you?

Poor Film
By a customer from Isle of Man , 15 Sep 2008I was quite disapointed with this film. Poor story, didn't really go anywhere and it had a really stupid, quick ending. Nowhere near as good as The Breakfast Club!- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing.
By a customer from London , 24 Aug 2008Born in the 80's, I thought it would be nostalgic for me to watch this movie but sadly I think it's one of those movies you'd need to have watched as a kid to enjoy now. I was disappointed. This movie was not all it could have been.- Was this review helpful to you?
