Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls?

Maybe it isn't possible to make a good movie about rock music without taking the Spinal Tap tour bus? The only alternative seems to be to use a real band and a real tour, or biopic real musicians........The Doors and Coalminers Daughter work. By a customer from Carmarthen , 14 Aug 2009It is good to see a film about girl bands rather than men. The story does have a few differences that a film about men would not have. That said thye whole life of rock and roll musicians is presented as not being glamourous and the ending seems more realistic than usual.
The acting is excellent particularly Gina Gershon and Di Mateo(?). TYhe music is passable.- Was this review helpful to you?

Girl Band Bore
By Taffy (7 reviews) from London , 24 Feb 2008I was looking forward to watching this movie after reading positive reviews for it but by the end of the movie I was dissapointed to say the least. The movie is boring and pretentious and the music isnt that great, this is due to the fact that Gina Gershon is not the best vocalist in the world. The movie claims to be a 'electric, true-to-life portrait of the struggles of a working rock band'. It isnt. Add to the fact that DVD has no extras and you end up with a real turkey.- Was this review helpful to you?
