Suberb Acting.....
By Hurdlemagurdle (79 reviews) from Scotland , 19 May 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
from the entire cast and the atmosphere of the film is set just right in this film on the life and death of Joe Orton. A little more on information about the subject matter of his plays and how they related to his life might have been beneficial as I felt it was a film for those who already knew his work, but this would be a minor quibble.- Was this review helpful to you?

(21)My ears were pricked up but not for long!
By gingerspike (410 reviews) from Grimsby , 04 May 2012This started off very well and caught my interest instantly but this interest soon waned and I ended up turning the film off after about half an hour.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Cracking Bio-Pic
By a customer , 17 Dec 2011A cracking Bio-Pic about the life of Joe Orton, superbly played by Gary Oldman.
Its a little bit raunchy and horrific at times, but is true to how things were.
If you are already aware of Joe Orton, then you will be expecting all of this and you wont be fazed.- Was this review helpful to you?

Engaging biopic
By a customer , 09 Aug 2011Use of flashbacks as narrative device feels a bit confusing when the characters don't seem to age.
Otherwise it was really engaging.- Was this review helpful to you?

Did not capture me as expected
By a customer from Nottingham , 27 Apr 2009Found this dragged on and bored me by the end. Can't even explain much about the story line as it washed over me.- Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoyable
By a customer from Newbury , 05 Jan 2009I was expecting to enjoy this film, having read the Radio Times' review. The time seemed to fly by. The film seemed to end too soon, as I was enjoying it so much. The treatment of the subject was very even-handed and the characters were humorously and sensitively portrayed. Conversely, my husband had always disapproved of the antics of Joe Orton and he did not want to watch the film. However, rather reluctantly, he joined me. By the time the film ended he said he thought the the lives of those involved was handled well, confessing that he had, unexpectedly, enjoyed the film.- Was this review helpful to you?
