    [Highly rated reviewer]

I see that the Geer Garson and Lawrence Oliver first version which is not out yet on DVd although I have booked to to view, I wish to buy only this version of it but cannot buy it WHY I do not understand when I click the BUY one. It goes into an endless list of books dvd of the same film, but no mention of the first one. selena

2006? 1940 actually. Wish this was available instead of just permanently in the 'may be released at some stage so why not add it to the database' category.

  • A classis and a must see you if you love the book

I first saw this as a teenager in english lesson - pride & prejudice was a set text for GCSE so the teacher got us to watch the film first and I fell in love with it. This is how I always imagined Elizabeth, she's tough, no nonsense, tall and stunning. Olivier as Darcy is brooding and slightly scary (always like that in my men) The BBC version is the only other version I like. But as a film, this is the best, makes you realise how terrible Keira Knightley is as Elizabeth, which in my mind is possibly the worst casting in history. Anyway, that's a different film so a different review. If you love Austin, watch this, its timeless and a must see for any fan of the book and/or BBC adaptation in particular.
