Institutional sexism?
By a customer from Sunny Devon , 09 Aug 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
A battle of wills between highly capable female police investigator and the old boys network determined to keep female officers out of the senior ranks. Excellent performances in this 'well worth a watch' TV cop drama.
In these times of ever increasing sensitivity it is difficult to concieve of a time when life was like this. Goes to show how standards have chenged.- Was this review helpful to you?

Prime Suspect 1
By a customer , 24 Sep 2011OK but a weak plot relying more on the goings on in the police station rather than the crime itself. Very weak ending as only really ever 1 suspect after 3 plus hours of watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Helen Mirren at her best
By a customer from Bridport , 30 Jun 2009Absolutely brilliant performance by Helen Mirren. This riveting detective series hasn't aged at all. Helen Mirren's character is such a good representation of how impressive women can be in a male dominated environment. She's got balls of steel. The first Prime Suspect is the best and what you'll remember most from it, is when she brings a suspect in and gets them to confess, turning them from a mild mannered believable innocent in to the monster she proves him to be. Just brilliant!- Was this review helpful to you?
